Dheeraj Roy Lab

The Roy Lab, led by Dr. Dheeraj Roy at the University at Buffalo, aims to decipher the molecular, cellular, and circuit mechanisms that govern higher-order cognitive processes, such as attention, working memory, and long-term memory encoding and retrieval. Focusing on the mammalian thalamus—a central hub for sensory integration and cortical regulation—the lab combines in vivo systems neuroscience techniques, computational modeling, and human organoid studies to probe both basic function and disease-related alterations. Emphasizing collaborative, team-oriented science, it fosters an inclusive environment for a diverse range of trainees.
