This one-page portfolio website is a snapshot of work I've been working on while working at other design agencies. As I navigate through this crazy freelance world, I'll look to replace this website with a much meatier one. So for now this is all I have time for!

I'm from Plymouth, UK and I've noticed that design agencies and marketing teams both need more digital design support to achieve whatever project they're on and I'm looking to fill that gap for them.

Sue Lewry's Colossal Print project had lost its digital mojo. After crowdfunding a new screenprinting unit, she needed to get back online and shout about her work. That's where I came in.

This project was all about capturing Sue's unique personality and artistic flair in a digital space. We used matter.js to create a physics-based playground that visitors of all backgrounds can interact with. It's not just a website - it's an experience.

Working with Sue was a blast. We organised her content in a way that made sense to her, and brought my copywriter for some killer copy. The end result? A website that's just pure fun, and truly captures what Colossal Print is all about.

They're a top group that wanted to push themselves away from standard competitors, so I took them down the website design path that was going to help them hit the digital ground running.

During my time with Upshot Design in Plymouth, I was exposed to an authentic process to discovering a companies brand. What do they want to be known for, how this connects to their audiences and why do they even bother doing what they do.

When brand and digital come together, we create something far more unique than we would by just picking out a template for a website project. 

What we did at Upshot was dig deep into the roots of who Connect are and translated that into a visual identity and website that make them stand out against their competitors.

The approach I learned in this project will now change the way I think website design and I hope to bring this to other projects in the future.

Next Generation Nursing & Care, part of the Big Picture Care Group, recently relocated to work more closely together under the same roof with their sister companies, Yourway and Clear Thinking Care, and we were commissioned to create a unified brand to bring the companies together strategically and visually.

Care companies are often portrayed with soft, gentle colours and themes. In truth, these companies are tough. They have to deal with really difficult circumstances, under massive pressure, solving critical issues for hugely vulnerable people. There's nothing soft and fluffy about Next Generation.

Next Generation Nursing & Care

We had the privilege of partnering with Yourway, a visionary care agency dedicated to fostering inclusivity and community for individuals with physical and mental disabilities. Tasked with redefining the visual identity of a trio of care agencies, Yourway Support, Next Generation Nursing & Care, and Clear Thinking Care, we embarked on defining the brand strategy that formed the Big Picture Care Group.

Our approach began with a deep dive into 'why' which helped us define their brand strategy which in turn provided a framework for their brands' visual identity. Through collaborative workshops and in-depth discussions, Upshot helped create an identity that is tough and cuts through a sea of endless care companies portrayed as soft with gentle colours - there's nothing soft and fluffy about difficult circumstances and solving critical issues for vulnerable people.

Yourway Support

E Electrical was my first Webflow build, and I was lucky enough to do it for my best mate. Nothing like a bit of friendly pressure to get the creative juices flowing, eh?

We kicked things off with a brand sprint that was more energising than a double espresso. Every visual cue and font pairing was wired directly to the values and personality we uncovered.

This project was my playground for interactions and Webflow's native features. No fancy frameworks here - just pure, unadulterated experimentation. Was it perfect? Nah. Was it a crucial learning experience? You bet it was!

We ended up with a visual direction that positions Josh as the go-to guy for any electrical job. Delivered during my stint at Upshot Design in Plymouth, this project was a team effort. Owen Jones led the branding, while I took charge of design, creative, and development.

E Electrical

When there was a handover from the founder to his son, Martin had to show Devon & Cornwall that he's not just an electrical engineer, but actually his team of 20+ are renewable energy specialists. After Adam Farley gave them a slick rebrand, it was my turn to elevate their online presence.

We plugged into the Webflow CMS, creating a collection of localised pages to reach every nook and cranny of their service area. Paired with a marketing agency, we made sure Eljay's services were lighting up the right screens.

During my initial discovery workshop I found out that they're not just about profits; they're charging up the community with apprenticeships and free services – which is a bonus feel-good moment. 

We ended a website that positions Eljay as the big player they are, ready for larger bids and new partnerships in the renewable energy sector for years to come.

Eljay Energy

Champion Groundworks had been rocking the same look for years. After a management shake-up, they were ready for something fresh that'd keep them ahead of the game.

The challenge? Balancing 40 years of history with a modern, cutting-edge vibe. We used a lot of GSAP interactions to manage the flow of content, making sure all the important info was easy to find for different audiences.

This project was about more than just a new website. Champion plays a big role in hiring and apprenticeships in the South West. This work will continue to support generations learning how to build a career in groundwork.

The result? A website that cements Champion as THE industry leader for years to come. Who knew a groundworks company could stand out like this?

Champion Groundworks

Patrick and Ross (yes, the faithful turned traitor...) are a production duo who have quite the impressive portfolio of work, collaborating with brands and other creatives across the globe.

From micro animations to fully interactive sections, we pulled together a site that guides users through their projects and offering (I'll admit that in development it crashed my chrome tab a few times).

It was a no brainer to move them from Squarespace to Webflow either. We've created a custom Vimeo integration, leveraged GSAP for smooth animations, and built quite the bespoke portfolio page that's all client controlled in the CMS.

Note to self: when working with other creatives, be prepared to create features I never would have thought of - leading to my 3D spline debut!
