Gutters

Gutters

Gutters refer to the whitespace between content columns on a webpage. They provide visual separation on a website, improving its organization, appearance, and readability. By offering additional breathing room between different elements, gutters increase accessibility and make content easier to digest.

For example, a blog with multiple posts in different columns can incorporate gutters to carve distinct divisions between sections. Without gutters, the posts would merge into each other, making it confusing to distinguish where one piece starts and another one ends.

Gutters also direct a reader’s gaze across the webpage, providing a rhythm similar to flow of reading from left to right or top to bottom. They’re adjustable and responsive to diverse screen sizes, ensuring consistent spacing and layouts across numerous devices.
