Certain animations can be distracting and cause dizziness, nausea, headaches, and seizures in people with vestibular and photosensitivity disorders.

To avoid harmful animation patterns

  • Limit blinking or flashing to 3 times a second  

Common harmful animation patterns include:

  • Mouse-triggered scaling
  • 3D zoom and blur
  • Parallax effects
  • Variable speed scrolling
  • Plane-shifted scrolling
  • Constant animation/floating
