Now, your entire website experience team can work together in Webflow — at the same time, on the same page — without bottlenecks or unnecessary handoffs.

The way teams work together to build, manage, and optimize websites to achieve business results has changed significantly in recent years. Rather than being handled end-to-end by a single individual, building for the web has become a collaborative effort where teams of designers, developers, marketers, content editors, reviewers, clients, and other stakeholders work together to ship website experiences for their audiences.

As this shift has taken place, we've consistently heard from our customers about their need for teams to be able to work together in Webflow simultaneously – particularly teams of designers and developers – without having to take turns or hand off design control.

Today, we’re thrilled to announce that real-time collaboration is now available in private beta, allowing you to work side-by-side with your team like never before. Whether you're designing a landing page, updating a headline, or launching a new product, real-time collaboration means your entire web team can contribute — together, at the same time, even on the same page.

Once the beta period is over, real-time collaboration will be included on all Webflow plans later this year — at no additional cost. Given that this multiplayer capability introduces a fundamental shift from the way Webflow worked before, we’re beginning with a beta while we work to prepare the feature for general availability later this year. You can learn more about the beta and request access here.

A more collaborative, connected web team

Real-time collaboration is a complete upgrade to how teams work in Webflow across roles, skill levels, and workflows. Here’s what it unlocks:

  1. Faster speed-to-market. By being able to tag-team web pages with multiple designers, you can get projects from idea to production faster.
  2. Eliminate bottlenecks. Designers can build in parallel without waiting for their turn or having to hand over design control so you can ship more. Marketers and content editors can see who is working on what to avoid overriding and unnecessary coordination that can slow you down.
  3. Tackle projects as a team. Take a jam-session approach to co-designing and co-editing as a team. Whether you're tweaking a layout, troubleshooting an issue, training a new teammate, or adding animations, you’ll see those updates as they happen.
"Real-time collaboration might be the biggest unlock I've seen in Webflow in years. Being able to have multiple teammates designing and editing together will probably save us 40-50% of our time, meaning we can launch faster and tackle more high priority work as a team."
Russel Kostner, Head of Design at Legalshield

A new operating model for designers, developers, marketers, and content editors

Real-time collaboration isn’t just for designers and developers; it’s for entire marketing teams who need to own and deliver website experiences for their customers in order to drive revenue.

For designers and developers: Now, you can have multiple teammates building simultaneously — no more handing off design control. This could mean working in parallel on elements and styles to get something live on a tight timeline, helping onboard teammates side-by-side right in the platform, or pairing up to debug tricky layout issues in real-time. Your changes sync in real time so you’re always working from the latest version, and presence indicators on the page show you who’s working on what.

For marketers and content editors: This means seeing your teammates updating page content and designs as it happens — no more guessing or stepping on toes. Global teams can also tag-team updating assets and content across locales with less coordination required, and execute faster on launches and campaigns without waiting on other teams.

Guardrails for Enterprise teams to build quickly and safely

For larger teams on our Enterprise plan, being able to build as a team with speed while also protecting the site from mistakes and accidents is crucial. Our Webflow Enterprise plan gives you access to additional capabilities that you can use alongside real-time collaboration that act as guardrails so that you can ship faster without sacrificing quality control, things like:

  • Page branching, so you can safely explore new designs in isolation without fear that teammates will publish work-in-progress.
  • Design approvals to ensure that proposed changes to the site are reviewed by the right stakeholders before they go live.
  • Custom roles to give you granular control over which permissions your teammates are assigned to meet the unique needs of your team.
  • Site Activity log to help you track the what, when, and who for important changes to your site so you can fix site issues faster.
  • Publishing workflows to give you more visibility and tighter control over which changes are set to go live to both staging and production.

If you want to explore getting access to these additional Enterprise features alongside real-time collaboration, you can get in touch with our Sales team.
