How to integrate Urgency Deal with Webflow
Countdown timers give visitors a clear deadline to act, helping reduce cart abandonment and encourage faster purchases. Urgency Deal adds these time-sensitive elements to your Webflow site.
There are two ways to integrate Urgency Deal with Webflow: use the Urgency Deal app from the Webflow Apps Marketplace for direct setup, or embed using custom code for more control over placement. Smartarget does not offer public APIs or developer documentation; all configuration is done through its dashboard.
Use the Urgency Deal app
The Urgency Deal app in Webflow's marketplace provides a straightforward way to add countdown widgets. After you install the app, configure your countdown timers, promotional messages, and display triggers through Smartarget's dashboard, then publish your Webflow site to see changes live.
The app supports the following features:
- Individual timers display personalized countdowns that start when each visitor arrives
- Global timers show the same deadline across all visitors for flash sales or event registrations
- Desktop and mobile support adjusts positioning automatically: corner notifications on desktop, top/bottom notifications for mobile
- Exit-intent triggers display offers when users attempt to leave your site
The app requires custom code to be added to your Webflow site. All widget customization (colors, text, countdown duration, and behavior) happens in the Smartarget dashboard rather than in Webflow. A paid Webflow plan is required to publish custom code.
Embed using custom code
Smartarget Urgency Deal widgets can be embedded into Webflow sites using custom code through three methods.
Method 1: Code Embed element (page-level placement)
The Code Embed element lets you add custom code directly into your page at a specific location.
- Open Webflow and navigate to the Add panel
- Locate the Embed element under Components
- Drag the element onto your canvas at the desired location
- Double-click to open the code editor
- Paste the Smartarget embed code into the editor
- Save and close
Keep these limitations in mind:
- Do not include
<html>, <head>, or<body>tags, as this causes layout issues - Maximum 50,000 characters per embed element
<link>and<style>tags preview on the canvas;<script>tags only render on your published site
This method works best for Smartarget widgets that need specific positioning within your page layout.
Method 2: Site-wide custom code
To add code that applies across your entire Webflow site, follow these steps:
- Navigate to Site settings → Custom Code
- Choose between the Head Code section (loads before page content) or the Footer Code section (loads before the closing
</body>tag) - Paste the Smartarget embed code
- Save changes and publish your site
Place scripts in the Footer Code section for better page load performance. This allows page content to load before the script runs.
Method 3: Page-specific custom code
For widgets that should only appear on specific pages, add custom code to individual pages by implementing these steps:
- Open Webflow and select the specific page
- Access Page Settings → Custom Code
- Choose Head or Footer section placement
- Paste the Smartarget embed code
- Save and publish
This approach lets you place different widgets or configurations on different pages, such as adding urgency countdowns only on landing pages or product pages.

- Choose your embedding method: Code Embed, site-wide, or page-specific
- Paste the code into the appropriate Webflow section
