Smartarget FAQ
Connect Smartarget FAQ, a customizable FAQ widget, with Webflow to display frequently asked questions on your site and reduce support requests.
How to integrate Smartarget FAQ with Webflow
The easiest way to set up your Smartarget FAQ Webflow integration is by installing the Smartarget FAQ app from the Webflow Apps marketplace. You can also embed the JavaScript snippet manually through Webflow's custom code settings if you need more control over where the widget loads.
Smartarget FAQ does not offer a public API, so programmatic control over widget content or behavior is not available. Publishing custom code on a live site requires a paid Webflow site plan.
Use the Smartarget FAQ app
Install the Smartarget FAQ app from the Webflow Apps marketplace. The app requests permissions to read and write custom code and read site data, which lets it inject the Smartarget JavaScript snippet onto your site automatically.
After installating the apps, do these steps:
- Create a Smartarget account (or connect an existing one)
- Configure your FAQ content — questions, answers, colors, themes, and positioning — in the Smartarget dashboard
- Publish your Webflow site for the widget to appear
The Smartarget dashboard lets you:
- Add FAQ questions and answers through form fields
- Customize colors, themes, and button styles to match your site's design
- Control widget positioning separately for desktop and mobile views
All customization happens in the Smartarget dashboard. The widget renders from Smartarget's JavaScript, so it operates outside Webflow's visual styling system.
Embed the Smartarget FAQ snippet manually
If you want more control over where the widget loads, copy the JavaScript snippet from your Smartarget dashboard and paste it into Webflow's custom code settings. Webflow provides three injection points.
Site-wide
Go to Site Settings → Custom Code → paste the snippet in the Footer Code section (recommended — the DOM loads fully before the script runs)
Page-specific
Open Page Settings for the target page → paste the snippet in the Before </body> tag section
Inline embed
Drag a Code Embed element onto your canvas and paste the snippet directly
Webflow's Code Embed element has a 50,000-character limit. Do not include <html>, <body>, or <head> tags in embeds. Webflow already loads jQuery, so avoid importing it again, as duplicate versions cause conflicts.
Custom code does not execute in Webflow's preview. Publish your site and view the live version to test the widget.
Smartarget has a video walkthrough covering the setup process.
What you can build
Integrate Smartarget FAQ with Webflow to add a pre-built FAQ widget to your site without building custom accordion components.
- E-commerce support page: Add an FAQ widget to product or checkout pages that answers common questions about shipping, returns, and sizing, so visitors find answers before leaving your storefront.
- Service business landing page: Place an FAQ section on a freelancer or agency portfolio site that addresses pricing, timelines, and scope questions visitors typically ask before booking a consultation.
- SaaS product page: Display a FAQ widget on a signup or pricing page that answers common questions about account features, billing, and compatibility. The widget displays pre-written Q&A pairs. It is not an interactive onboarding wizard.
- Event or membership site: Embed a FAQ widget on a conference or community site that covers registration, access details, and refund policies.
Frequently asked questions
Place the snippet in the Footer Code section (before the closing
</body>tag) so the DOM loads fully before the script runs. For site-wide display, add it under Site Settings → Custom Code → Footer Code. For individual pages, use the page-level Before</body>tag field. See Webflow's custom code in head and body tags documentation for details.Common causes include script blocking, cached pages, and jQuery conflicts. Check your browser console (F12) for errors like "Failed to load resource," perform a hard refresh with Ctrl+Shift+R to clear cached assets, and temporarily remove other custom scripts to isolate conflicts. Also confirm you're viewing the published site. Custom code does not execute in Webflow's preview.
No. The widget renders from Smartarget's JavaScript and operates outside Webflow's visual styling system. All customization — colors, themes, button styles, and positioning — happens in the Smartarget dashboard before you generate the embed code.
No. Smartarget FAQ does not have integrations on Zapier, Make, n8n, IFTTT, or viaSocket. It also does not offer a public API or webhook support. All content management happens manually through the Smartarget dashboard.
