Making edit mode more powerful with machine translation support

Now you can do more in edit mode in Webflow with support for machine translation, element lockdown, and undo/redo shortcuts for images.

Today we’re making edit mode more powerful with a number of enhancements to save you time as you work on content, while providing more control over which elements specific teammates can edit.

Just a few months ago, we introduced a new edit mode and accompanying role inside of the Webflow Designer to give your content teammates (or clients) a more robust toolset to do their work, and we’re excited to continue making improvements to that experience. Here’s what shipped today:

Localize content faster with machine translation in edit mode.

  1. Localize content faster with machine translation. As you work on customizing a particular locale in edit mode, you’ll now see the option to click the “globe” icon on text elements or images to quickly machine-translate text or alt text.
  2. Control which elements your content teammates can edit. In the element settings panel, designers and site owners can lock down certain elements that they don’t want their content teammates or clients to edit.
  3. Undo/redo shortcut support for images. When you update an image on a page, now you can quickly navigate to the previous version with the undo/redo keyboard shortcut.

We hope these improvements will make working on web projects as a team faster, easier, and safer. For more details on how to start using these features today, check out our Webflow University article.
