A Better Way to Set Your Site’s Language
We’ve improved how you set your site’s language tag in Webflow. Instead of using the language field in Site Settings, you’ll now define a primary locale through Localization.
This isn’t a new feature, but it’s now the standard way to manage language tags in Webflow.
What’s Changing
For new projects:
- The Site Settings language field is now disabled.
- You’ll be prompted to set a primary locale in Localization.
For existing projects:
- If you're using Localization, your locale settings now control your language tags.
- If you previously set a language in Site Settings without using Localization, that value will remain, unless you remove it.
- If you never set a language, the field will now be disabled.
Why This Matters
Managing your language through Localization improves SEO and accessibility, even for single-language sites.
