Real-Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP)
Real-Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP)
Real-Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) is a standardized network protocol for transmitting real-time multimedia data like audio and video. It enables servers and media devices to connect and communicate for live streaming.
For example, when you click play to watch a live stream on a device, it uses RTSP technology to request the stream from a video server. In response, the server breaks the live video stream into manageable chunks, dispatching them to your device for uninterrupted viewing.
Think of RTSP as a television remote for online media. The video server is the TV, and RTSP is the control mechanism, allowing you to pause, play, or rewind live streams to deliver a smooth and interactive media experience.
