Avoid using meaningful text images

Check as complete

Images of text can’t be read by screen readers, don’t scale well for people with low vision, and can’t reflow on zoom.

Make sure your images are accessible

Avoid embedding meaningful text in an image — instead add the text to the page with a heading, text box, or paragraph element in the Designer.

If you do include meaningful text in an image:

  • Make sure it’s not critical to page navigation
  • Add alt text that explicitly includes the text from the image.

See Include alt text for every important image

WCAG reference:

1.1.1 Non-text Content
