A company’s biggest asset is its talent, but most hiring processes are clunky at best. Monster.com alum and passionate digital marketer Neil Costa saw this as an opportunity to bring a consumer marketing mindset to recruiting, and, as a result, founded HireClix in 2010. A global recruitment marketing agency that goes above and beyond for its clients, HireClix focuses on optimizing advertising strategy and managing campaigns for a wide range of industries, from health care and government to financial technology and software.
HireClix had traditionally outsourced the content management of its main marketing site to WordPress. But after what Neil describes as a “decade of frustration,” including several security incidents, he decided it was time to look for a more future-proof solution. After successfully migrating its own professional site, HireClix saw an opportunity to leverage the power of Webflow to build client Careers sites at scale. All this, without hiring an in-house development team.
The journey from WordPress, to Webflow self-serve, to Enterprise
We don’t need to hire engineers because we have Webflow, which allows us to push our creative limits and elevate our entire web experience.
In 2019, HireClix migrated from WordPress to Webflow to rebuild its own website. With this powerful switch, the team not only gained peace of mind, but a streamlined and intuitive user experience where support was always a tap away. Although HireClix got its start with Webflow’s self-serve offering, they quickly exceeded the limits to run a critical asset for their business, and in 2022, upgraded to Webflow Enterprise for more robust security features, a reliable hosting infrastructure, advanced collaboration tools, and dedicated account team support.
Once they upgraded to Webflow Enterprise, they gained confidence that it could scale with HireClix’s own rapid growth. Even as the company scales with many objectives competing for resources, Webflow gives them the ability to capture more leads at 52% of the cost and compete with the bigger agencies in the marketplace. Without worrying about the nuts and bolts of the back end, Senior Graphic Designer Kyle Johnston can now build a better candidate experience and tap into his creative side.
Dan Heselton is a Senior Designer who works on web-related projects alongside Kyle. Without any prior experience in Webflow, Dan was able to hit the ground running developing sites. “Webflow University makes it really easy to learn the platform and create really cool, powerful things with little effort,” he says. And for more complex web builds, the team leveraged their dedicated enterprise account team who were integral in uncovering site optimizations and accelerating innovation. With the power of Webflow Enterprise, HireClix has empowered their existing designers to build and manage their web experiences, avoiding $500k+ of costs associated with hiring in-house developers.
HireClix’s experience with Webflow unveiled an unexpected opportunity to help other enterprise organizations modernize their Careers sites. Without a modern content management system, even the simplest edit could trigger a three-week waiting process. “Since Webflow gave us the creative palette to create a stellar HireClix website, we felt it could put us in a great position to do that for our clients, too” Neil says.
A 28-day site migration transitions to a full rebrand seamlessly
By convincing clients to build their Careers site on Webflow, we can ensure a stronger candidate experience which helps increase conversions. Our clients need applicants to get to the hire and Webflow helps make that happen.
After introducing a new service offering building client Careers sites, HireClix was approached by one of the nation’s leading security and technology companies, Peraton. Keen to attract the best talent, Peraton’s recruiting team wanted to elevate their Careers page but faced similar challenges with a career site vendor suffering from dated web development tools. Their contract was expiring with their incumbent technology provider, and they reached out to HireClix to explore a better solution.
Neil and his team started with the site’s existing code and design, utilizing Webflow’s API and CMS to complete the site migration in 28 days. Most Career site migrations take 90+ days but the combination of HireClix and Webflow made it happen in record time. Quickly following, they tackled a more thorough redesign and brand refresh over the next three months. “To have the flexibility to first put a better infrastructure in place and then take the time to think about what’s best for the brand and their candidate experience was a huge advantage,” Kyle says.
The HireClix team embraced Webflow as a blank canvas to create a site that really resonated with candidates. “The ability to create really cool animations and interactions with Webflow is huge, and we were able to execute them in a way that just isn’t possible with other platforms,” Kyle says. “Our clients were blown away.” In addition, we have seen a material lift in candidate interaction from the clients’ career sites as well as a massive jump in organic search traffic given the value of how Webflow structures the search engine optimization (SEO) assets of the pages.
Once they’re done with the set up and design component of the project, HireClix then sets their clients up as editors so they can take more ownership of content updates, making them quickly and with ease. “Webflow is intuitive for our clients to learn and helps encourage continuous content iteration,” says Kyle. Content updates that used to take a month because of lengthy engineering queues, can now be addressed in a day or less. Equipped with the ability to streamline processes, deliver impressive outputs, and help clients get the most value out of their investment, HireClix has been able to open the door to even bigger opportunities.
Paving the way for modern recruiting
We have chosen a technology partner that can innovate more rapidly than competing career site solutions, so we’re able to compete with businesses that are much bigger than us.
HireClix is charging full speed ahead to take on projects with a wide range of scopes from clients of all sizes. Instead of banking on technology that’s more than 10 or 20 years old like other career site solutions, they know they can rely on Webflow to evolve with them. For example, if a new global client wants to list jobs in multiple languages, the team knows they can get it done thanks to Webflow’s native localization solution.
Plus, as a Webflow Enterprise customer, HireClix has built a strong relationship with its customer success manager, who feels like an extension of their team. “Our Webflow CSM gets us exactly what we need, quickly,” Kyle says. Since HireClix doesn’t have any in-house developers, this is especially helpful when it comes to more technical questions. “We’re in the service business and like to be extremely responsive to our clients,” Neil says. “Knowing Webflow is cut from the same cloth is really refreshing and critical to our success.”
As they move forward and scale with confidence, the HireClix team will leverage their new abilities to continue to modernize the recruiting process and create a better candidate experience for clients across a variety of industries, including healthcare, biotech, defense, and retail.
